BIS QCO FOR THE FURNITURE (STORAGE UNITS)

UPDATE FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE)

The government has issued an order known as the Furniture (Quality Control) Order, 2023. This order will come into effect one year after its announcement. It says that furniture must follow specific quality standards (specified in column (2) of the Table) and have a special mark (for goods or articles listed in column (1) of the Table). To manufacture furniture, especially Storage units, according to the standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), manufacturers must obtain a license known as BIS QCO for furniture Storage units

There are some exceptions to this rule:

1.     Furniture made in India for other countries doesn't have to follow this rule.

2.     Micro and small enterprises, as per the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, are exempt for eighteen months from this notification.

3.     Goods or articles made by an enterprise registered under the "Udyam Portal" with specific financial limits, as certified by a Chartered Accountant, are also exempt from this regulation according to BIS QCO for furniture Storage units

The Bureau of Indian Standards is in charge of making sure everyone follows this rule. If someone doesn't follow it, they can get in trouble with the law. According to BIS for qco furniture the rule also says that the latest quality standards set by the government must be followed.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued a Quality Control Order known as the Furniture (Quality Control) Order, 2023. This order is set to become effective twelve months after its publication.

According to this order, all furniture goods or articles must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 17635:2022 for Beds and bear the Standard Mark. To do so, they must obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme I of Schedule II as per the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The Central Government, empowered by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, BIS Registration QCO Furniture (Storage Units Quality Control) and following consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, finds it crucial and in the public interest to introduce the BIS for Qco Furniture Order, 2023. This order, taking effect twelve months from its official publication, establishes guidelines and standards for the quality control of furniture.
